What it does

sapgui rebuilds a selection of classic SAP GUI transactions - SE80, SE16N, SM37, ST22, SU01, SLG1, WE02 and more - as abap2UI5 apps, starting from a SAP Easy Access screen with command field and menu tree. Every screen is one ABAP class, installed with abapGit into a standard ABAP system; nothing is installed on the client and no Fiori launchpad or OData service is needed. Use it to look into a system without the SAP GUI, for browser-based development with SE80, or to learn abap2UI5 from 29 full apps. It is not the WebGUI and not for ABAP Cloud; SE80 writes are switched off by default.

  • SAP Easy Access start screen with command field (/nSE80, /oSE80) and the real SAP menu
  • Around thirty transactions: SE80, SE11, SE16N, SM37, SM21, ST22, SU01, PFCG, STMS and more
  • Window frame like the SAP GUI: menu bar, command field, toolbar, status bar
  • Authorization checks as in the original transactions (S_TCODE, S_DEVELOP, S_TABU_DIS, ...)
  • Read-only by default; SE80 editing only after switching c_write_enabled in the code
  • 629 unit tests, transpiled with @abaplint/transpiler

Requirements

  • SAP_BASIS 7.50 or higher, standard ABAP (on-premise, private cloud or developer trial)
  • Not ABAP Cloud; no 7.02 version
  • abap2UI5 with its HTTP handler set up
  • abap-cloud-gui (for the pilot ZCL_SAPGUI_SM37_CGUI)

Installation

Pull the repository with abapGit into a package of your own. abap2UI5 itself has to be installed first.

  1. Install with abapGit in this order: 1. abap2UI5 (HTTP handler set up per quickstart), 2. abap-cloud-gui, 3. this repository (branch main)
  2. Start with the ICF path of the handler, e.g. /sap/bc/http/sap/z2ui5?app_start=ZCL_SAPGUI_START
  3. Upgrading from a version before October 2026: objects were renamed to ZCL_SAPGUI_*, ZIF_SAPGUI_*, message class ZSAPGUI; let abapGit delete the old ones
  4. Read Authorizations and What changes the system before opening the service to more people
